API

Header.Root

PropTypeDefaultDescription
placement"static" | "sticky""static"Native positioning of the semantic header. Sticky placement stays within its nearest scroll container.
refRef<HTMLElement>—Ref forwarded to the native header element.

HeaderClient

PropTypeDefaultDescription
placement"static" | "sticky""sticky"Static placement disables hiding. Native Root defaults to static.
hideOnScrollbooleantrueHide after sustained downward scrolling beyond the Header height; reveal upward or at the top.
scrollTargetstring—Scrollport element id. Omitted uses the owning window. A missing target keeps the Header visible without a window fallback.
refRef<HTMLElement>—Ref forwarded to the same native header; native props, className, style and events are preserved.

Keyboard

KeyAction
TabMove between links and actions; focusing inside HeaderClient reveals it
Enter / SpaceOpen the composed native Modal from its trigger
EscapeClose the navigation Modal and return focus to its trigger

Accessibility

Header.Root renders a semantic <header> without client JavaScript; HeaderClient adds hide-on-scroll. Both are visible before hydration. Focus inside, or an open descendant modal, popover or disclosure, keeps it visible; reduced motion removes the slide. Build mobile navigation from Modal parts with unique ids. Label nav elements, mark the current link with aria-current, and close the dialog before fragment navigation.
